A new version of Walmart’s super-cheap HD streaming stick apparently hit the FCC recently, detailing an updated streaming stick that’s largely identical to the 2023 model. While most details are unknown, this appears to be a behind-the-scenes change more than any kind of hardware upgrade, switching manufacturers from Luxshare to Skyworth, while also moving production to Mexico instead of Vietnam.
The updated device has the same model number as the 2023 release, and is said to still run Google TV despite Walmart’s increased focus on Vizio. Walmart is also rumored to be working on its own Onn-branded TV sets powered by Google TV.
It’s unclear when this updated device might launch but, given the apparent lack of any notable changes, it’s possible we won’t really know when the updated hardware goes on sale.
