The topic Gemini’s new Google Play Store integration lets you chat to find Android apps, games is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.
This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.

As previewed at I/O 2026, the Gemini app on Android now integrates with the Google Play Store.
This new “connected app” lets you use Gemini to conversationally browse the Play Store to find Android applications and games. Example prompts include:
Some results will directly display a Play Store card that lists applications with ratings and download counts, as well as a link to “View more in Google Play.” Tapping on an app slides up the app listing to Install.
Another aspect of this Google Play integration lets you use Gemini to “search for and purchase in-app digital items, subscriptions, or digital gift cards.” Support for gift cards was introduced last year.
Google says that “Gemini can only recommend in-app items for apps installed on your device.” Additionally, “not all apps support making purchases with the Google Play connected app in Gemini, but the list is actively growing.”
To set up the Google Play connected app, enter one of the above prompts. Gemini will then guide you to connect the Play Store. This integration is still rolling out and did not appear on devices we checked this morning.
