“I have determined that appropriate safeguards are in place to permit certain trusted partners to access the Claude Mythos 5 Model,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick wrote to Anthropic’s chief compute officer Tom Brown Friday, citing “significant progress” in the intense, daily talks between the government and the company since the block went into effect.
Right now, there is no word on when (or whether) Anthropic customers should expect Claude Fable 5 to be made available as well. Semafor said Lutnick’s letter “is silent on Fable 5,” but the report notes that “people close to the talks said they are moving toward releasing Fable as well, though that timeline is unclear.”
Update, 9:05 p.m. ET: In a post on X, Anthropic confirmed the news and said the company is “continuing to work with the government to expand access to Mythos 5 and make Fable 5 available for general use again.”
