The topic Gemini for Android using Bubbles to let you multitask & continue chats is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.
This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.

After adding Dynamic Color earlier this month, the Gemini overlay on Android is now using Bubbles to help keep track of conversations.
To access, start a conversation from the Gemini overlay. Once you see the floating response, tapping somewhere else on the screen will minimize Gemini into a Bubble that simply features the spark logo.
The first time you use it, Google explains that “Gemini is still available while you multitask. Tap to expand. Drag to move or dismiss.”
Tapping the Bubble brings back the full Gemini overlay and response so that you can continue the conversation. Previously, you would lose that chat after closing the overlay and have to open the full application to resume.
It’s a bit like Gemini Live’s floating waveform circle, with the chat experience now getting something similar. The aim is to presumably let you keep talking with Gemini while you carry on with other tasks. With the launch of Android 17, you can also Bubble the main app for similar continuous access.
So far, we have only received one report with the Android 17 QPR1 Beta. It’s not appearing on devices we checked today.
