iOS 27 is coming, here are five new features I’m most excited about

The topic iOS 27 is coming, here are five new features I’m most excited about is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.

This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.

We’re just days away from Apple’s iOS 27 unveiling on June 8 at WWDC. Here are five rumored new features in iOS 27 that I’m most excited about.

Siri is expected to get its biggest overhaul ever in iOS 27, with a Google Gemini-based foundation powering a set of modern AI features.

A lot is riding on Apple’s Siri overhaul, including several new products that are waiting for it. I’m excited and hopeful that iOS 27’s Siri will be worth the wait.

One new visual intelligence feature rumored for iOS 27 is the ability to scan nutrition labels to easily import that data into iPhone’s Health app.

I’ve used a variety of calorie-tracking apps over the years, with my current favorite being MacroFactor.

iOS 27 is expected to not only let you scan nutrition labels for easy dietary logging, but the Health app is also expected to add a more robust set of nutrition-related features. As happy as I am with MacroFactor, I’m excited to see Apple’s own take on a calorie-tracking tool.

I’m not a Liquid Glass hater in any way. But there are certain aspects of the iPhone’s new design that bother me on a daily basis.

Apple is rumored to have refinements for Liquid Glass coming in iOS 27, and possibly a new systemwide slider. As I’ve written elsewhere though, the change I want most centers around the tab bar in apps like Music and Podcasts.

In select iOS 26 apps, the tab bar minimizes as you scroll, requiring extra taps every time you want to access it or use controls like skip buttons in the above media apps. I’m optimistic that year two of Liquid Glass will fix these shortcomings.

It’s technically a Siri feature too, but one rumored iOS 27 addition I’m especially excited for is a more powerful ‘Add to Notes’ option.

Siri already offers some limited Notes capabilities. But those features should be far more useful in iOS 27. Per The Information, Siri will be able to tap into your Apple Notes database to help you easily save data it shares with you.

If Siri’s new intelligence can easily be added to new and existing notes, as a heavy Apple Notes user I know that’s a feature I’ll get a lot of value from.

Everything above is based on rumors, but generated subtitles is a confirmed iOS 27 feature that Apple has already announced. Per the announcement:

With new generated subtitles, videos can display transcriptions of spoken audio automatically when captions or subtitles are not already provided, including in clips recorded on iPhone, received from friends and family, or streamed online.

There are times almost every day when I want to watch a video with subtitles and none are available. Sometimes it’s because I’m listening to a podcast and don’t want to interrupt it, other times I just don’t want to disturb anyone with the video’s sound. Generated subtitles could be the perfect solution.
