Everyone probably has a massive photo library going back for years, maybe even over a decade. Over time, that consumes more and more storage – and this becomes a problem, especially if you’re paying for iCloud storage. On the other hand, decluttering isn’t easy.
This Day turns photo decluttering into a habit, by designing an interface that allows you to address it one day at a time.
Instead of showing you tens of thousands of photos at once, This Day takes a more focused approach – and only shows you photos you took on todays date, but years in the past. So, instead of needing to take a wholistic approach to decluttering your photo library, you only need to think about todays date for previous years. Then, as time goes on, and if you keep checking in on the app – you’ll make progress.
Sure, it isn’t a one and done solution – but I love this approach since it takes the mental burden out of it, and it becomes just a few minute process every day.
This Day will show you all of your photos taken on this day in previous years for easy deletion, but it also has Live Photo compression (ie, turning your live photos into a single frame for lower file size) and duplication detection – giving you more ways than one to help save your precious storage.
You can also set up daily reminders and maintain a streak to keep yourself motivated. Overall, I find it to be an intuitive way of managing old photos without feeling overwhelmed.
This Day is available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad users running iOS 26 and later. For unlimited access, you can check out the Premium subscription for $3.99/mo or $29.99/year.
