Apple TV confirmed today that Brian Tyree Henry, who recently starred alongside Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent, Elite Squad) on Dope Thief, is joining a new feature film from Apple Original Films. Here are the details.

Last November, Deadline reported that film director and screenwriter Gavin O’Connor was developing “Running,” a movie that “follows a homeless high school running prodigy on the hunt for greatness as he uses his gifts to outrun his past and find a family.”

Today, Apple confirmed that Brian Tyree Henry has joined the cast and will star opposite Spike Fearn (Alien: Romulus, Back to Black).

This marks the third collaboration between Henry and Apple. He previously starred opposite Jennifer Lawrence in Causeway, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He also starred in Dope Thief, a performance that landed him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Running is being written by Bill Dubuque, who collaborated with O’Connor on The Accountant 2. Following its premiere, the movie quickly became Amazon MGM Studios’ second most-watched film of all time on streaming, according to the data Deadline.

As is usually the case with features in early production stages, there are no details on when the movie is expected to land on Apple TV.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
