Samsung\u2019s Galaxy Tab S11 series launched late last year but, out of the blue, Samsung has just launched a new \u201cPro Keyboard\u201d for the Ultra model, and it\u2019s expensive.<\/p>\n

The new \u201cTab S11 Ultra Pro Keyboard\u201d just hit Samsung\u2019s online store at the price of $399, nearly twice the price of the existing \u201cBook Cover Keyboard Slim\u201d for Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, and $50 above that of Apple\u2019s Magic Keyboard for the 13-inch iPad Pro.<\/p>\n

For that lofty price tag, you\u2019re getting what is essentially the bottom half of a laptop.<\/p>\n

The \u201cPro Keyboard\u201d attaches to the Tab S11 Ultra through its rear pins, propping the tablet up at your desired angle in the process \u2013 sort of like the Pixel C. A second kickstand comes out of the back to balance the whole setup.<\/p>\n

Added on to the tablet, then, is a full QWERTY keyboard, a dedicated Galaxy AI key, and then a full-size trackpad. The keyboard connects to the tablet without Bluetooth, and actually has no battery built-in either \u2013 it just draws the needed power from the tablet itself.<\/p>\n

You can also close up the keyboard + tablet combo like you would a traditional laptop, and the keyboard itself looks very thin alongside the tablet. Samsung says it measures 5.3 mm thick \u2013 0.2mm thicker than the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra \u2013 and weighs 636g, just shy of the tablet\u2019s own weight. Together, that\u2019s around 1,300g or 2.86lbs. In other words, about the weight of a MacBook Air. In terms of thickness, Samsung\u2019s combo is probably in that same ballpark of around 11mm \u2013 there\u2019s a gap between the tablet and keyboard.<\/p>\n

There are no additional ports on the keyboard, but you do get some customizable keys to open favorite apps \u2013 something Samsung debuted on a prior physical keyboard. It also comes in silver and gray color options.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra Pro Keyboard is available for purchase now on Samsung\u2019s website, though inital reactions are not great. One early review notes that the keyboard doesn\u2019t have backlighting, doesn\u2019t protect the back of the tablet, and \u201chas a hinge that will guaranteed break within months.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s currently no sign of this keyboard coming to the base Tab S11.<\/p>\n
