To me, quizzes are undoubtedly one of the most interactive ways to test and expand your topical expertise, and they’re generated and saved almost effortlessly through artifacts on Claude.<\/p>\n

The flexibility is perhaps the best part of it all. You can test yourself on whatever subject you please by feeding the model your specific course content. Oftentimes, I’ve used this feature to generate highly specific “niche” quizzes for myself that I couldn’t otherwise find anywhere else on the internet.<\/p>\n

Building these was essentially a three-step process. You simply prompt to create a quiz on artifacts menu and answer a couple of follow-up questions on the topic, the target audience, and the “mood” you’re going for.<\/p>\n

It has been a few months since I was introduced to Settlers of Catan, and only a few weeks since I pulled five friends and family members into the obsession. Naturally, scorekeeping usually falls to the most experienced player at the table, and it ends up being me for the most part. I was genuinely astonished by how much manual tracking takes away from the actual experience. Perhaps that’s why I haven’t won a single game while burdened with tallying points instead of strategizing. That’s what I’m telling myself.<\/p>\n

A custom Claude artifact finally did end up putting an end to my woes. With just about ten odd minutes of iterative prompting and defining the win criteria, Claude built a stunning, interactive score tracker. Because it’s saved as an artifact, I can easily pull it up on an iPad, keep the game running smoothly, and actually focus on building cities and roads.<\/p>\n

This approach is versatile, too. As long as you know the winning conditions and rules of engagement, you can prompt Sonnet 4.6 to build a rather handsome score tracker for virtually any tabletop game. Alternatively, if you’re as lazy as I am, you can just feed them a PDF of the instruction manual to get them to figure it out.<\/p>\n

When I was writing my dissertation at business school, arguably the most annoying phase of the entire process was compiling the bibliography. Before LLMs were a thing, meticulously checking and re-checking my citations for compliance after every single assignment, as you can imagine, was a massive hassle. It certainly didn’t help that the vast corpus of global research I referenced in the literature review needed to be painstakingly formatted to strictly adhere to the APA 7th edition guidelines the university demanded.<\/p>\n

As a prospective doctoral student, having a handy citation converter built and saved as an artifact completely eliminates that frustrating, tedious friction when I’m just minutes away from finally finishing up a paper.<\/p>\n

With this artifact, I can convert any reference string into any format I need almost instantly. What’s even better is the fact that it works without having to constantly waste time prompting in a chat window that derails conversations, or sign up for ad-riddled websites that demand my credit card details after a few uses. Since research projects typically demand dozens upon dozens of sources, having a dedicated artifact is an absolute game-changer, and it’s impossible to even fathom the era when all of it had to be formatted manually.<\/p>\n

With artifacts, you can build a solution that outlives the conversation.<\/p>\n

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed about artifacts, it’s the fact that Claude works much better when it is treated less like a chatbot and more like a custom development environment, and I would argue that, for the most part, it’s exactly where the key strengths of the platform lie. Whereas prompting is transactional, artifacts are an investment that have the potential to yield better returns on your time. With apps, you can build a solution that outlives the conversation.<\/p>\n

There’s also the aspect of flexibility that cannot be overlooked. With a singular well-framed prompt and a couple of iterations, you can have a functional app that’s tailored to solve a unique problem for you. While these examples barely scratch the surface of what’s possible with the feature, they do demonstrate the range of problems that can be solved.<\/p>\n
