American Captain Hilts (Steve McQueen) repeatedly tries and fails to escape captivity, getting locked up alone in the \u201ccooler\u201d as a result.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, his Allied inmates band together to dig their way out through a series of tunnels beneath the prison. Even though they make it out of the camp, escape does not mean freedom, as they must race to evade capture by the Nazis once more in one of the most iconic war films ever.<\/p>\n
