Until August 27th, Microsoft will continue its regular practice of releasing a new Edge update each month. Once that date arrives, the company will shift gears and begin updating Edge every two weeks instead. Critical security updates will still be released ASAP, but Edge users should receive new features and tools more regularly.<\/p>\n

There is another branch of Microsoft Edge called Extended Stable. This one updates every 8 weeks, giving IT teams in organizations enough time to adapt to new features before they arrive on people’s PCs. Microsoft says this branch will continue to receive updates every 8 weeks, but it will now include 4 Stable updates instead of 2 due to its accelerated update schedule.<\/p>\n

And before you think you’ll receive more regular-sized updates as a result of this speed-up, Microsoft has unfortunately confirmed that it instead plans to split its monthly updates into two. However, it does mean you get a steadier stream of updates to look forward to, even if it’s all arriving at a similar pace as before.<\/p>\n
