TrendForce says that while \u201cSamsung remained the world\u2019s largest smartphone producer,\u201d with a 2.3% production increase year-over-year that resulted in \u201capproximately 62.6 million\u201d output units, \u201cApple ranked second with its production of approximately 60.2 million units during the quarter\u201d.<\/p>\n

The report also notes that Apple\u2019s standout performance was helped by the launch of the iPhone 17e, in addition to \u201congoing production ramp-up for new iPhone models.\u201d<\/p>\n

TrendForce also echoed past industry reports that found Apple was better positioned to protect its margins amid the market-wide memory price increases. Apple is one of the few smartphone manufacturers that hasn\u2019t raised prices since the shortage started, and hasn\u2019t ruled out price increases in future, if things don\u2019t let up.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the report says global smartphone production is expected to \u201cdecline approximately 16.2% YoY to 1.051 billion units in 2026,\u201d adding that the decline \u201ccould become even more pronounced if memory price increases remain elevated and brands are forced to raise retail prices repeatedly.\u201d<\/p>\n
