Huawei kicks off the wide foldable trend with Pura X Max ahead of iPhone, more

The topic Huawei kicks off the wide foldable trend with Pura X Max ahead of iPhone, more is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.

This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.

Huawei has shown off its next foldable, the Pura X Max, which has a super wide form factor we’re expecting to see a lot more of in future foldables from Apple, Samsung, and many others.

Officially launching on April 20, the Huawei Pura X Max has a wide design inside and out, akin to former foldables like the Oppo Find N and Google Pixel Fold, before Android brands settled on a more familiar outer aspect ratio.

The exact specs aren’t shown on Huawei’s early listing, but the inner display aspect ratio is somewhere around 16:11.

The outer display looks short and wide, with a huge camera module on the back of the device.

As GSMArena points out, Huawei’s new device offers up 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB RAM configurations, and it might be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030 chip but, again, the official specs have yet to be shared.

What has been shared is a look at the variety of colors the Huawei Pura X Max will come in, including “Interstellar Blue,” “Olive Gold,” “Phantom Night Black,” “Zero Degree White,” and, because everything has to have it now, “Vibrant Orange.”

This is the same form factor Apple is expected to use in its first iPhone foldable, with Android brands speedily looking to release their own versions of the same device. Samsung’s “Wide” Galaxy Z foldable leaked recently, while Oppo, Honor, and others are expected to follow as well.

Obviously, the Huawei Pura X Max won’t see the light of day outside of China.
