The topic xAI is bringing Grok Voice mode to Apple CarPlay is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.
This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.
Apple CarPlay recently gained support for AI chatbots, and the third app to add support is coming soon: Grok.

The latest version of Grok for iPhone already includes a placeholder app for Apple CarPlay. Grok’s CarPlay app doesn’t actually work yet, but the placeholder app confirms that xAI is planning to support Apple’s in-car experience soon.
For now, the app just launches with a message for users: “Grok Voice mode coming soon to CarPlay.” Grok is already a built-in feature on Tesla vehicles. The upcoming CarPlay support will bring the AI chatbot experience to almost every other car on the road.
Grok originally started as part of Elon Musk’s xAI company, which absorbed X (formerly Twitter) before becoming part of SpaceX.
When Grok Voice mode arrives on CarPlay soon, it will join ChatGPT and Perplexity to the party.
Google hasn’t shown signs of supporting CarPlay with Gemini, but Google’s Gemini models will help power the new Siri in iOS 27 later this year. Apple is also expected to launch a dedicated Siri app, which will presumably work with CarPlay as well.
Hopefully the team at X is considering CarPlay support for the recently launched XChat app as well. You can see the top CarPlay apps already available here.
