The topic Meeting Insights is leaving Outlook in August, but only Copilot subscribers get the… is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.

This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.

The company announced the change in a message titled “MC1430531 – Microsoft Outlook: Meeting Insight is retiring” over on the Microsoft 365 Message Center. The company explains that, in a change starting mid-August and finishing mid-September, it will begin removing the Meeting Insights feature from all versions of Outlook.

Microsoft is retiring Meeting Insights, the feature that surfaces relevant emails and files within meeting details. To provide a more intelligent and context-aware meeting preparation experience, users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license can instead use Copilot meeting preparation experiences that summarize relevant content, tasks, and context available to the user.

You don’t currently need a subscription to use Meeting Insights, so this seems like a case where Microsoft is not only moving a feature over to Copilot but also adding a subscription fee to it. So, if you want to keep those insights flowing, you’re going to need to pay up.
