After six months of rumors, OnePlus confirms it's leaving the US

The topic After six months of rumors, OnePlus confirms it’s leaving the US is currently the subject of lively discussion — readers and analysts are keeping a close eye on developments.

This is taking place in a dynamic environment: companies’ decisions and competitors’ reactions can quickly change the picture.

Since January, people have speculated that OnePlus will be leaving the US market. Earlier this week, we heard a rumor that the company was planning on announcing its departure soon. Fast forward to today, and OnePlus has made an official statement confirming that it’s leaving, though people who own a OnePlus device shouldn’t worry too much.

As announced on the OnePlus website, the company has declared that it will be pulling out of both the US and EU markets. The majority of the statement is a Q&A designed to cover OnePlus users’ greatest concerns about the company making its departure, and fortunately, things are looking good for its fans.

If you have a OnePlus device, the company confirms that it will continue receiving ” software updates, security patches, and applicable support.” Any warranties you have will still be valid, and if you require a phone repair or an after-sales service, you can still use OnePlus’ support website.

In addition, any phones that are eligible for the new ColorOS version can update to it. The update is voluntary, and if you don’t like it, OnePlus says you can go back to OxygenOS. If your device isn’t eligible for a ColorOS update, it will still receive maintenance updates.

Unfortunately, not everything will survive. The company has announced that the US OnePlus Community will shut down on August 16, 2026, at 11:59 pm EST. If you have any media on the forums you’d like to save, OnePlus recommends you download them now before they go away forever.

So, why is OnePlus leaving? In an interview with Android Authority, the company says the announcement was a long time in the making, and “wasn’t dictated by OPPO nor made unilaterally by OnePlus.” It wants to re-focus on efforts on markets where it knows it can do well, and part of that involved removing OnePlus from the US and EU markets.
